We Gather Together............
There’s something truly special about Thanksgiving.I think it is because it is the least commercial of all celebrations, with a single focus on a festive feast to give thanks for God’s gracious blessings. The celebration of Thanksgiving is in itself an empty bottle moment, representing a time of shared with family and friends. With Thanksgiving just days from the doorstep, many of us are likely pulling favorite recipes from book collections and recipe boxes, menus are in the works and homes are being prepared for the arrival of our guests. Attention to details — Fall-themed decorations, carefully set tables, candle light and grandfather’s favorite hot rolls — add meaningful touches to a meaningful holiday.
As I start to make ready the meal, may I never forget that it is not about the perfection of my methods, or presentation. It is about the perfection that comes from accepting the imperfections..................It is all about "The Gathering Together."

The BEST TURKEY DRESSING EVER (Stole it from a friend Valerie Hanson)...Thanks for all the great moments at your families table..)
1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup butter (I use olive oil)
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
8 cups dry bread cubes (I only put 2 cups)
2 cups finely chopped peeled apple (I use granny smith)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (I roast them a little bit so that they are crunchier)
1/4 cup toasted wheat germ
1/2 to 1 cup chicken broth I add raisins that I marinate the night before in Marsala
I also add Jimmy Dean seasoned sausage. Saute it before and remove grease beforeadding to the rest of the dressing. In a large skillet cook carrots, celery and onion in butter till tender. Stir in nutmeg, 1/4 tsp of salt and 1/4 tsp of pepper.
In a bowl combine bread cubes, apple walnuts, and wheat germ. Add carrot mixture, raisins and sausage. Drizzle with enough broth to moisten, tossing lightly.
Use to stuff one 8 to 10 pound turkey.

Clive--
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Thanksgiving and the lovely family photo. Where's Ian?
Last year I cut out gift-giving at Christmas and simplified that holiday.
Happy holidays to you and to your family!
